We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to Pentyrch RFC for the 2011/12 season. We particularly welcome new players and parents in the Under 7s which is now established as an age group in it’s own right and will start the season in a brand new kit.
Our registration fee for the season is £45 for each player with £5 per parent as social memberships to comply with HMRC legislation on member clubs. The WRU only allow clubs to register a maximum of 25 players per team , which will mean that many of our teams will have a waiting list of potential players. For this reason, the committee has decided that any player who has not attended 4 consecutive weeks will automatically be de-registered which will allow waiting players to join. This does not apply where the coach/team manager is aware and accepts a valid reason for absence.
With this in mind, please complete the attached form and return it to your team manager on Registration Day, Sunday 4th September 2011 with the appropriate funds (cheques should be made payable to Pentyrch Mini & Junior – please put your child's name and age group on the back of the cheque). This will ensure we have full squads and also give those wishing to join us some idea of availability.
The club’s new stewardess, Sue James, will be doing meals, including take away, as well as teas, coffees etc on a Friday night and we would encourage you to take advantage + stay in the club for a drink and food after training. It would be good to see the club well used by M&J players and parents.
Finally, can we simply wish all our teams the very best of luck for the forthcoming season. Remember, play hard, play fair, be respectful of the officials and opposition and above all, enjoy playing rugby.
Yours in Rugby
Pentyrch RFC Mini & Junior Committee
| Our Child Protection Policy |
Everyone who participates in Rugby Union is entitled to do so in an enjoyable and safe environment. Pentyrch Rugby Football Club is committed to devising and implementing policies so that everyone playing rugby at the club accepts their responsibilities to safeguard children from harm and abuse. This means following procedures to protect children and reporting any concerns about their welfare to appropriate authorities.
The aim of the policy is to promote good practice, providing children and young people with appropriate safety/protection whilst in the care of the Club and to allow staff and volunteers to make informed and confident responses to specific child protection issues. A child is defined as a person under the age of 18 (Children’s Act 1989)
As a section we are aware of our responsibilities under the WRU Child protection guidelines and need to ensure that every parent is willing for us to take photographs or match videos of our players for publicity and training purposes or to be included on the clubs web-site. Any Parent who does not wish their child to be included in such material should bring this to the attention of the committee immediately as we will assume that by not contacting us, you are providing us with your full consent to your son/daughters inclusion.

As it is the start of the new season could we please just clarify , particularly for the benefit of new parents, some rules, regulations and expectations that should be adhered to by everyone to ensure the smooth running of our section this coming season…..
1. Please take a moment to look at The WRU pathway guide to rugby. http://pentyrchrugby.co.uk/WRUPathway.aspx . This set out the rules for the various M&J age groups.
2. Training is held on Friday evenings 6 -7pm for Under 7’s – U13’s squads. Training times for older age groups TBC. If there is a time change or cancellation, due to, for example, adverse weather conditions the coaches or team manager will contact you asap.
3. Please ensure that your child dresses appropriately for training i.e. warm layers of clothing/waterproofs – it will only get colder at Pentyrch from now onwards!! This also applies to parents on the patio watching!!!!
4. Please encourage all players to register with their team manager as soon as they arrive to training or a game – we don’t want bodies running around everywhere and getting in the way of the coaches while they are trying to set the playing area out!
5. After training and matches, players are allowed into the Clubhouse provided they are clean – you must bring a change of clothing/towel/clean trainers if you intend to go inside.
6. Players have been asked not to wear their rugby boots on the patio area in front of the Clubhouse – so please have a pair of trainers in a boot bag to hand.
7. Matches are played on a Sunday morning - players need their own black rugby shorts and black & white hooped club rugby socks., available via the club website. Team shirts will be handed out on the morning of the game and collected back in at the end of play. Most players wear a t shirt/skin top underneath their club shirts also. Again ensure that your child is appropriately dressed – as we tend to play a rotation system, there will always be players waiting to get on to play and need to keep warm and dry. Meals are provided after home games.
8. All parents must watch games at Pentyrch from behind the ropes or barriers.
9. Please remember that we are not a babysitting or child-minding service and as such, request that you stay at the club during training or during a game, or make arrangements with some-one else to look after your child. If they are injured in training/game; you will be needed.
If you wish to purchase merchandise from the club our nominated leisure wear supplier is Corporate Safety Wear and replica shirts are available from Pictons Sports, please visit pentyrchrugby.co.uk/Merchandise.aspx
All players in the club are covered by the WRU insurance policy. Should you wish to take out additional insurance then please do so. The cover applies “whilst participating at any ground or premises where any match, practice or training is being organized by the insured club…and extends to travelling directly to such an activity”. Although the policy does not cover any injury outside the UK, Pentyrch Mini & Juniors have a group insurance policy in place for such occasions/tours that are funded through our registration costs.
There is a kitchen rota for each Sunday with each age group having 2/3 designated slots per season. Parents of that age group prepare player’s meals as well as teas/coffees, bacon rolls etc. All the profit made during that morning goes directly into the funds for the future rugby development of your age group. We will therefore need volunteers (mums or/and dads) to help out – it would be nice not to have to rely on the same small number of willing parents on each occasion.
