Pentyrch hosted Treharris RFC in the final game of the season. This was an exciting and entertaining game to watch with both sides playing attractive rugby and wanting to play an open game. It was a game of two halves, with Pentyrch having the advantage in the first session. After 15 minutes captain Rhys Owens dived over from a ruck near the line, with Alex Moore converting. The Pentyrch backs were creating a lot of chances and after 25 minutes Will Adams-Jones crossed under the posts, having been put clear by his three quarters. Alex Moore converted. Within 5 minutes centre Morgan Williams broke through to score the third try, with again Moore converting. Very near to the interval some lack luster tackling by the home side allowed the visitors to score a converted try. This made the interval score 21-7.

Within only 10 minutes of the second half played the scores were equal. Very poor tackling by the home defence allowed the visitors to score 2 converted tries. The momentum was now with Treharris and midway through the half they scored a further converted try to take the lead. With 10 minutes remaining Pentyrch hit back. Hooker Macaulay Greedy threw into a lineout on the 5 meter line, ran around the pack to collect the ball and ran through the defence to score a superb try. Alex Moore converted to level the scores. Both teams fought to get the winning score and it came for the visitors with the final move of the game. An unconverted try gave Treharris the honours by 28-33. Pentyrch earned a losing bonus point and a further point for scoring 4 tries. This was the last game of a disappointing season on the field and we can only hope next season will bring improved fortunes.
